Honouring a Local Legacy

For nearly 27 years, Executive Chef Ralf Dauns, affectionately known as The Soup Meister, was a culinary icon in North Vancouver. His handcrafted soups became legendary, earning accolades such as the North Shore News Reader’s Choice Award for “Best Meal Under $10” in 2016 and 2017, and being named “Best Soup in Vancouver” by DailyHive in 2021.

Even after decades of success, Chef Ralf insisted on chopping every vegetable by hand and sourcing only the best ingredients—refusing to cut corners for profit. Sadly, Uncle Ralf passed away in December 2022, leaving behind not only a loyal customer base but also a lasting food legacy.

To honour his memory and keep the tradition alive, his nephew, Evan Paul, stepped forward. With a passion for cooking sparked during childhood and a background that spans commercial kitchens, military operations, and business management, Evan is determined to continue his uncle’s legacy while introducing new flavours and ideas.
