CPKC Holiday Train 2025 in Metro Vancouver
Free Holiday Concerts Across Canada & the U.S. | Metro Vancouver Stops: December 19–20, 2025
The CPKC Holiday Train 2025 returns this winter with festive lights, live music, and a powerful mission: supporting local food banks and communities across North America. Running from November 19 to December 21, 2025, the Holiday Train travels thousands of miles across the CPKC rail network in Canada and the United States, bringing free outdoor concerts and encouraging donations for food insecurity relief.
Now in its 27th year, the Holiday Train remains one of the most meaningful holiday traditions in North America—uniting communities, music lovers, and families during the festive season.
What’s New for the Holiday Train in 2025
In 2025, the Holiday Train program is expanding its reach more than ever before. To allow the train to visit more communities across the network:
-
The Holiday Express equipment has been retired after 23 years of service
-
The program now focuses entirely on the Holiday Train experience
-
The beloved Rudy the reindeer continues to appear—featured in lights as part of a beautifully designed mural on the U.S. Holiday Train
While some elements have evolved, the spirit, joy, and community impact remain unchanged.

What Happens at a Holiday Train Stop?
A typical Holiday Train event follows a simple but magical format:
-
The illuminated train arrives and safely stops in front of the crowd
-
A stage door opens on the train car
-
A live band performs a 25–45 minute outdoor concert
-
Local food bank representatives join briefly on stage
-
After the final song, the train continues to its next destination
🎄 All concerts are free, and attendees are encouraged (but not required) to bring food or cash donations for their local food bank.
Why the Holiday Train Matters
Since launching in 1999, the Holiday Train program has:
-
Raised over $26.1 million
-
Collected more than 5.4 million pounds of food
-
Supported hundreds of local food banks across North America
All donations collected at a stop stay in that community, and CPKC also makes a direct financial contribution at every location.
