Hats Off Day 2025 – Burnaby's Biggest Street Festival Goes Disco!

Put on your dancing shoes and your best 70s gear—Hats Off Day 2025 is back on Saturday, June 7 with this year’s groovy theme: Disco Fever! One of Burnaby’s most beloved traditions, Hats Off Day transforms Hastings Street from Boundary Road to Gamma Avenue into a vibrant, pedestrian-only celebration filled with live music, entertainment, food, and fun for the whole community.

Organized by the Heights Merchants Association, Hats Off Day began as a grassroots sidewalk festival in the early 1980s and has since grown into a massive event attracting over 60,000 attendees. The event is free to attend and is open to all ages, rain or shine.

🕺 2025 Theme: Disco Fever

Break out the bell bottoms and sequins—this year’s festival invites you to celebrate with a funky 70s twist. Expect:

• Disco-themed parade floats

• Live funk and jazz music performances

• Dancers, entertainers, and roving performers in glitter and glam

• A community-wide throwback to the golden age of disco

Whether you're dancing in the street or just enjoying the vibe, the festival atmosphere will have you moving!

🎈 Parade & Street Festival

• Start Time: 9:30 AM – kicks off with the Family Fun Dash

• Followed by the colourful Mainstreet Parade and all-day festivities

• Location: Along Hastings St, from Boundary Rd to Gamma Ave

🚗 Vintage Show & Shine

• Classic cars and motorcycles on display

• Vehicle check-in: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM at Burnaby North Secondary (Curtis St. lot)

🎵 Live Entertainment

• Multiple performance zones along Hastings Street

• DJs, community groups, dancers, and bands performing all day

🍔 Food & Vendors

• Dozens of food trucks, merchants, and local vendors offering international eats and artisan goods

🎪 Kids & Family Zone

• Games, face painting, interactive booths, and entertainers

🚨 Public Safety & Accessibility

Hats Off Day prioritizes the safety of all attendees. Coordinated with Burnaby RCMP, the event includes:

• Road closures along Hastings St

• Medical tents at Gilmore and Madison (St. John’s Ambulance)

• Lost & found and RCMP Community Police at 4191 Hastings St

• Clearly marked portable washrooms and signage throughout

• Fully wheelchair accessible event area

🚍 Transit Note: All buses usually on Hastings St will be rerouted to Pender St for the day.

• City lot at Alpha & Pender
