    Parade of Lights 2025 in Port Coquitlam

    The Parade of Lights returns to downtown Port Coquitlam for its second year, illuminating the city with festive energy, colourful displays, and community spirit. As the first illuminated parade of its kind in the Tri-Cities, this beloved celebration brings together City vehicles, local businesses, community groups, and walking performers — all decorated in glowing holiday lights. Families can also look forward to a special appearance by Santa Claus himself.

    Perfect for families, holiday explorers, and anyone looking to enjoy the warmth of community celebration, the Parade of Lights is one of Port Coquitlam’s most magical winter events.


    Event Overview

    📅 Date: Saturday, December 6, 2025
    🕔 Parade Start: 5:00 PM
    ✨ Pre-Parade Activities: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
    📍 Location: Downtown Port Coquitlam

    The parade features illuminated floats, music, costumed performers, and a joyful lineup of local participants who transform the heart of Port Coquitlam into a glowing celebration of the holiday season.


    Parade Route

    The Parade of Lights begins at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre and follows a looping route through downtown:

    • West along Kelly Avenue

    • North on Shaughnessy Street

    • East on McAllister Avenue

    • South on Mary Hill Road

    • Returning to Kelly Avenue

    With a route that passes through key areas of downtown, attendees will have plenty of options to choose the perfect viewing location.


    Traffic Information, Road Closures & Parking

    To keep participants and spectators safe, several temporary road closures will be in effect on Saturday, December 6, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM:

    Road Closures

    • Shaughnessy St. – Kelly Ave. to McAllister Ave.

    • Leigh Square Pl. – East of Shaughnessy St.

    • Donald St. – Wilson Ave. to McAllister Ave.

    • Whyte Ave. at Shaughnessy St.

    • McAllister Ave. – East of Shaughnessy St. to Mary Hill Rd.

    • McAllister Ave. – West of Shaughnessy St. to the southbound alleyway

    • Mary Hill Rd. – McAllister Ave. to Kelly Ave.

    • Wilson Ave. – Between Shaughnessy St. and Mary Hill Rd.

    Note: The PCCC parkade entrance via Kelly Ave. will be closed. Access will remain available from Kingsway Ave.

    Detour Routes

    • Wilson Ave. (east of Mary Hill Rd., west of Shaughnessy St.)

    • Mary Hill Rd. → Kingsway Ave.

    • Maple St. → Kingsway Ave.

    • Kingsway Ave. – Mary Hill Rd. to Maple St.

    • Shaughnessy Underpass – Open at Elgin Ave. (east/west access)

    • Local access for Marpole Ave., Whyte Ave., McAllister Ave., Elgin Ave. via Maple St.

    Parking

    Free parking will be available at:

    • Port Coquitlam Community Centre

    • Gates Park

    • Legion Branch #133 (Elgin Ave. & Kingsway Ave.)

    • Kingsway Avenue at Mary Hill Road

    Attendees are encouraged to use transit, cycle, or walk due to expected high traffic volumes.


    Pre-Parade Holiday Activities (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM)

    NorthStar Development Holiday Zone

    📍 Livy & Porthaven Presentation Centre (2630 Shaughnessy Street) & Leigh Square

    Visitors can enjoy a wide mix of family-friendly and festive attractions, including:

    • Complimentary hot cocoa

    • Photos with Santa

    • A walk-in snow globe experience

    • Inflatable Santa sleigh photo booth

    • Winter-themed games

    • The NorthStar Express mini holiday train (travelling between Leigh Square & Veterans Park)

    A great area for families looking to enjoy hands-on activities, holiday selfies, and magical seasonal displays.


    Post-Parade Festivities at PCCC

    Extend your evening of holiday fun with additional free activities:

    🎄 Holiday Treats & Activities (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

    • Complimentary hot chocolate

    • Festive treats

    • Holiday-themed arts and crafts in Mabbett Hall

    ⛸ Family Play & Skate (4:30 PM – 5:30 PM)

    Enjoy skating with the family before the parade begins.

    ⛸ Free Public Skate (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

    End the night with a free community skate session.

    Skating Pre-Registration:

    • Opens 2 days in advance

    • Residents: 8:00 AM

    • Non-residents: 10:00 AM

    • Register online through the City of Port Coquitlam’s official registration portal (search: PCCC Registration) or by calling 604-927-7529

    • Day-of registration may be available depending on capacity
