Event Overview

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in Richmond with To The Moon: Mid-Autumn Celebration, a family-friendly cultural event hosted by Gateway Theatre. This heartwarming afternoon brings the community together through music, tradition, and creativity.

The program begins with a concert by mezzo-soprano Renee Fajardo at Minoru Chapel, performing Disney, Broadway, and movie musical favourites like Frozen’s “Let It Go”, Moana, Mulan, Wicked, and The Sound of Music.

After the concert, families will gather at Gateway Theatre’s lobby for a hands-on lantern-making craft while enjoying complimentary mooncakes from Anna’s Cake House.

About the Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival (also known as the Moon Festival) is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon is at its brightest. This centuries-old tradition honours peace, prosperity, and togetherness. Families gather to admire the full moon, light lanterns, and share delicious mooncakes — making it one of the most joyful celebrations of the year.
