Event Overview

The Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival 2025 returns from July 17 to 20, offering four days of world-class guitar performances, immersive workshops, and inspiring masterclasses at Capilano University. Presented in partnership with the Vancouver Classical Guitar Society, this annual celebration brings together musicians and music lovers for an unforgettable classical guitar experience in the heart of North Vancouver.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned performer, the festival invites you to explore the beauty of classical guitar through hands-on instruction, ensemble playing, and performances from acclaimed local and international artists.

• Michael Kolk – One of Canada's premier guitarists, instructor at Vancouver Community College

• David Sossa – Known for his dynamic Latin-American rhythms workshop

• Alec Pearson – Festival faculty and gifted guitarist

• Marc Teicholz – San Francisco Conservatory of Music professor and former GFA winner

• Sequoia Duo – Local artists Louise Southwood (guitar) & Jennie Press (violin)

• Catherine Huo – 13-year-old guitar prodigy and Northwest Guitar Festival winner

🌟 About the Festival

Founded in 2020 by Luis Angel Medina, the Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival has grown into a cornerstone event for classical guitarists across the Pacific Northwest. Past festivals have featured renowned artists including Iliana Matos, Daniel Bolshoy, Ben Verdery, and Jorge Caballero. The 2025 edition continues this legacy with an even more enriching experience for both performers and audiences.
