The evening opens with a symbolic performance of the Ukrainian national anthem, welcoming Odesa Week in Vancouver and honouring the city of Odesa, Vancouver’s sister city.

A thrilling, rhythmically complex masterpiece that showcases Bartók’s daring and modern compositional style. Often described as cinematic and intense, this work is one of his most imaginative.

🎼 Kelly-Marie Murphy – Curiosity, Genius, and the Search for Petula Clark
An energetic tribute to the many faces of Canadian music legend Glenn Gould, this contemporary piece fuses creativity, eccentricity, and technical brilliance.

🎹 Ludwig van Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 “Emperor”
With Behzod Abduraimov at the piano, Beethoven’s majestic and emotionally charged Fifth Piano Concerto comes to life. Known for his “magic touch” and profound interpretation, Abduraimov delivers a performance that’s both technically commanding and emotionally expressive.
