The story of the DuPlessis display began in Vancouver near Rupert & Kingsway, where a 16-year-old built a moving Santa sleigh and four reindeer after seeing a design in a woodworking book. The display grew year after year — and continues to grow today.

In 2000, the DuPlessis family moved to their current Burnaby home, bringing the display with them and expanding it beyond anything seen before.

What makes this Christmas display special:

• Many pieces are 30+ years old, handcrafted and lovingly maintained

• The creator takes all of November off work to design, repair, and assemble the display

2014 – Computerized Light Animation

The display began using:

• HLS programming software

• Renard AC controllers

• 108 controllable lighting channels

This allowed for animated effects and more complex synchronized sequences.

2024 – Upgrade to xLights & RGB Pixels

The 2024 season marked a major transformation, as the display switched to:

• xLights light sequencing software

• RGB pixel technology

This upgrade enabled more detailed colour patterns, intricate animation, and a more immersive musical light show — elevating the display to a professional-quality experience.
