Event Overview:
Join Vancouver’s largest Remembrance Day ceremony at Victory Square as the city commemorates the 100th anniversary of both Victory Square and its Cenotaph. This annual event honors veterans, the Canadian Armed Forces, and those who have served Canada. Tens of thousands gather each year to participate in this solemn and respectful ceremony, which includes music, marching, and a 21-gun salute by the 15th Field Artillery Regiment.
Ceremony Highlights:
- 10:00 am: The event begins with a performance by the Vancouver Bach Choir’s Youth and Sarabande choirs, followed by the marching in of veterans and current members of the Canadian Armed Forces and local police.
- Formal Ceremony: Includes a prayer, welcome speech, and performances by the Regimental Pipes and Drums of the Seaforth Highlanders and the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services band.
- 11:00 am: Traditional two minutes of silence observed, followed by a 21-gun salute from Portside Park.
- Wreath Laying Ceremony: In Flanders Fields is sung, and wreaths are placed at the Cenotaph.
Vancouver Remembrance Day Parade:
Following the ceremony, the Remembrance Day Parade begins, with over 1,000 uniformed cadets, veterans, RCMP officers, and active members of the Armed Forces marching through downtown Vancouver. This solemn parade includes bagpipes and bands, honoring those who served Canada.
Parade Route:
Starting at Victory Square, the procession moves along Hastings Street, passing the reviewing stands near Homer Street, then turns up Richards, east on Cordova, and south onto Cambie.
