Event Overview
The beloved UBC Apple Festival returns for its 34th year — a celebration of one of British Columbia’s most cherished fruits! Taking place at the UBC Botanical Garden, this family-friendly weekend event offers a perfect mix of education, tasting, entertainment, and community spirit.
Organized by the Friends of the Garden (FOGs), the Apple Festival is both a fundraiser and a celebration of diversity — featuring over 50 varieties of BC-grown apples, mouth-watering food vendors, live entertainment, and hands-on activities for all ages. Proceeds directly support education, conservation, and research programs at UBC Botanical Garden.
What to Expect
🍏 Apple Tasting Tent
The festival’s most popular attraction is back! Sample up to 50 varieties of new and heritage apples grown in British Columbia. Discover your favourite flavour profile — from crisp and tart to sweet and aromatic.

Tasting sessions run 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM daily.

Separate $10 ticket required for guests aged 8+.

The Friends of the Garden Apple Booklet ($5) is available onsite, featuring info on over 100 apple varieties and growing tips.
🌳 Apple Trees for Sale
Bring home a piece of BC’s orchard heritage! Over 50 varieties of apple trees will be available for purchase, most as 1-year whips (60–120 cm tall). Learn more about propagation, planting, and care from knowledgeable volunteers.
🥧 Apple Market & Food Vendors
Explore the Apple Market featuring both conventional and organic apple varieties, plus pears and apple-themed products. Local food vendors will be serving up delicious fall treats — from warm apple cider and pies to grilled cheese, chili, popcorn, and hot chocolate.
🎵 Live Entertainment & Family Fun
Enjoy performances from local musicians, children’s entertainment, and cooking demos featuring apple-inspired recipes. Kids can enjoy craft areas, educational displays, and garden-themed activities in a fun, interactive environment.
Sustainability & Zero Waste
UBC Apple Festival is committed to environmental stewardship through a strong zero-waste policy.
♻️ Compostable cups, cutlery, and straws are used throughout the site.
🚯 Visitors are encouraged to recycle, compost, and minimize waste.
💧 No bottled water is sold onsite — bring a reusable bottle to refill at designated stations.
