Celebrate Canada Day in Richmond at the 79th annual Steveston Salmon Festival, one of Metro Vancouver’s most beloved July 1 traditions. Returning to historic Steveston Village, this free family-friendly festival brings together a street parade, live music, cultural displays, food trucks, kids activities, community performances, and the iconic salmon barbecue.
Known as one of the region’s biggest Canada Day celebrations, the Steveston Salmon Festival highlights Richmond’s coastal heritage, multicultural community, and festive summer spirit.

Festival Highlights
Pancake Breakfast
Start the day with a pancake breakfast beginning at 8:00 AM in the Catch of the Day Zone.
Kids’ Bike Parade
Cheer on decorated bikes, scooters, wagons, and young riders during the Kids’ Bike Parade starting at 9:30 AM.
Canada Day Parade
Enjoy one of Metro Vancouver’s biggest Canada Day parades from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, featuring floats, vintage vehicles, marching bands, community groups, and Sammy the Salmon.
Famous Salmon Bake
The festival’s signature salmon barbecue begins at 11:00 AM and runs while supplies last. Guests can enjoy wild barbecued salmon with sides.
Japanese Cultural Show
Visit the Tennis Net Shed from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the Japanese Cultural Show, marketplace, and cultural displays.
Family Activities
Families can enjoy Sammy’s Fun Zone, the Salmon Run Youth Zone, face painting, sports activities, roving performers, and live entertainment.
Live Music and Performances
Enjoy music throughout the day across multiple stages, including community performers, tribute acts, local bands, and headline performances.
Food Trucks and Community Food Stations
Visitors can enjoy salmon, chow mein, seafood, tacos, Thai food, mini doughnuts, barbecue, and more from food vendors throughout the festival area.
Getting There
Parking in Steveston is limited on Canada Day, and road closures are expected. Visitors are encouraged to use public transit, free shuttle buses, cycling, or the free bike valet service.
