Event Overview: Join us for Ugly Potato Day on October 19th at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds—a global initiative dedicated to reducing food waste and feeding communities. This event, spearheaded by Ty Heppell of Heppell’s Farm, has grown significantly over the years, with support from over a dozen farms in Greater Vancouver and across North America. The goal? To show that imperfect produce can still be delicious and nutritious.

What to Expect:

• 250,000 Pounds of Free Produce: Over 250,000 pounds of edible but imperfect vegetables will be distributed, including misshapen potatoes, squash, carrots, beets, apples, garlic, and more.
• Local Farm Participation: Over two dozen farms will participate, joining the global movement to provide fresh produce and fight food waste.
• Educational Experience: Learn about the importance of reducing food waste and how “ugly” fruits and vegetables can still provide nourishment and flavor.
• Support the Community: Partial proceeds from donations will go to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to help nourish the local community beyond the event day.

How to Participate:

• Bring Your Own Bags: Attendees are encouraged to bring reusable bags to collect their vegetables.
• Donate If You Can: While the event is free, donations are welcome to support the local food bank and help feed the community.

• Traffic Advisory: Expect high traffic in the area due to the popularity of the event. Arrive early to secure a spot and minimize delays.
