About Ron’s Kitchen
Ron’s Kitchen is the latest project from Chef Ron, a chef with many years of experience running restaurants and kitchens in Iran before moving to Canada. In Iran, he also built a reputation as an event and catering organizer, cooking for large groups and special occasions.
After arriving in Canada, Ron joined the Earls restaurant group, where he completed culinary training and moved into kitchen leadership. According to the restaurant, he was named top chef at Earls Restaurant Group in 2019. He went on to open Chef Ron Restaurant & Bar in 2021, then launched Ron’s Kitchen in Port Coquitlam in 2024.
His cooking draws on both sides of that background. The Persian dishes are traditional and made the way they would be in an Iranian home kitchen, while his time in high-volume Canadian kitchens shows in the consistency and the broader menu. Ron grew up in a family that loved food, and many of his recipes carry the Middle Eastern flavours he remembers from childhood. His approach is simple: fresh ingredients, careful attention to detail and well-balanced spices.
The Menu
Persian Kebabs
Kebabs are the heart of the menu at Ron’s Kitchen. Each is served as a Kebab Box, a generous plate built for a full meal.
- Loghmeh Kebab – $21.99
- Loghmeh Kebab, single skewer – $17.99
- Joojeh Kebab (Chicken Kebab) – $21.99
- Chenjeh (tender cubes of marinated beef) – $28.99
- Vaziri (a combination kebab) – $29.99
- Kebab Torsh (sour kebab with a tangy pomegranate and herb marinade from northern Iran) – $34.99
- Soltani (the classic “king’s” plate, pairing ground kebab with a fillet skewer) – $36.99
For a first visit, the Joojeh or Loghmeh is a safe bet. If you want something you won’t find at most Persian restaurants in the Lower Mainland, try the Kebab Torsh.
Tahdig Boxes
Tahdig is the crispy layer of rice from the bottom of the pot, and in Persian households it’s the part everyone fights over. Ron’s Kitchen makes it a centrepiece rather than a side, serving Tahdig Boxes topped with traditional Persian stews. Customers often mention the Gheymeh (a split pea and beef stew) and Ghalieh Mahi (a spicy, herb-heavy fish stew from southern Iran) as standouts, both served over golden, crunchy tahdig.
Persian Specials
Some traditional dishes appear as specials, depending on the day:
- Haleem – $14.00. A slow-cooked wheat and meat porridge, traditionally eaten for breakfast in Iran.
- Ash Shirazi – $15.00. A hearty herb and legume soup in the style of Shiraz.
Specials can sell out or change, so it’s worth checking with the restaurant before you go.
Persian-Style Pizza
Iranian-style pizza is its own tradition. It’s loaded with toppings, uses a thicker, softer crust, and is often served with ketchup on the side. Ron’s Kitchen makes two:
- Special Pizza – $22.00
- Roast Beef Pizza – $22.00
If you grew up with pizza in Tehran, this is the one to order.
Specialty and Signature Pizzas
For more familiar flavours, there’s a full pizza menu as well.
Specialty Pizzas ($15.99 each): Pepperoni Lovers, Hawaiian, BBQ Chicken, Bacon Double Cheese Meat, All Meat, Cheese Lovers, Vegetarian and Deluxe.
Signature Pizzas ($19.99 each): Omega Favourite, Flame, Super Meat and Cheesy Steak.
Create Your Own: Build your own pizza for $15.99, or $24.99 with a gluten-free crust.
Drinks
Along with canned pop ($1.99) and 2L bottles ($3.75), Ron’s Kitchen serves Doogh, the traditional Persian yogurt drink flavoured with mint. It comes in 0.5L and 2L bottles ($8.00 for the 2L) and is the classic pairing with kebab.
Prices are as listed at the time of writing and may change.
What Customers Say

One diner who ordered the Gheymeh and the fish Ghalieh praised the authentic flavours and described the tahdig as perfectly golden and crunchy. Others single out the kebabs, and one regular called it the best tahdig and Gheymeh they’ve had.
