Now in its 21st year, the Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show has grown into one of BC's largest outdoor car shows, drawing more than 70,000 spectators and over 400 classic and custom vehicles into the downtown core. The weekend kicks off Saturday evening with the 12th Annual Car Cruise and BBQ, followed by the full show on Sunday, packed with vehicle displays, live entertainment, a beverage garden, and a dedicated kids' zone.
The entire event has been run by volunteers for more than two decades, with all proceeds going back into the community. Over the years, funds raised have supported organizations including the Scouts, the Port Coquitlam Firefighters' Charitable Society, the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation, the Coquitlam Express, PoCo Saints Lacrosse, the United Rugby Club, and the Downtown Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association, among others.
Saturday, August 15 — Car Cruise & BBQ
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM — BBQ Dinner
A BBQ dinner for registered show participants kicks off the Saturday evening festivities.
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM — Car Cruise Through the Community
Roughly 400 vehicles cruise through Port Coquitlam as part of this annual tradition, with an estimated 5,000 spectators expected to line the route. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and set up anywhere along the route to watch the cars go by and cheer them on. The cruise is open to the general public, not just show participants.
Sunday, August 16 — Car Show Day
7:00 AM – 8:00 AM — Sign-In & Car Photos
Registered participants check in and get their vehicles photographed ahead of the day's display.
7:30 AM – 11:00 AM — Breakfast
A public breakfast is available for $5, open to everyone attending, not just registered participants.
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM — Vehicle Display
More than 400 classic and custom vehicles are displayed throughout Downtown Port Coquitlam, making up the core of the show.
11:00 AM – 7:15 PM — Main Stage Entertainment & Beverage Garden
Continuous live entertainment runs on the main stage throughout the afternoon and into the evening, alongside a beverage garden for attendees.
All Day — Kids Zone & Community Vendors
A dedicated children's entertainment area and community vendor booths round out the day, giving families plenty to do beyond the vehicle displays.
Safety Reminder for Participants
The Car Show Committee maintains a zero-tolerance policy for burnouts or irresponsible driving of any kind. All drivers must follow the Motor Vehicle Act at all times, and Port Coquitlam Bylaw officers will be present along the cruise route — anyone caught doing burnouts or driving dangerously will be fined and banned from future shows.
