Jeju Vancouver: Michelin-Recommended Contemporary Korean in Mount Pleasant
Jeju is a contemporary Korean restaurant at 540 East Broadway in Mount Pleasant, and the Vancouver sibling of the much-loved Jeju in Tofino. It opened in November 2025 and within a year was added to the Michelin Guide Vancouver as a Recommended restaurant in 2026, making it the first Korean restaurant in the city to earn a place in the guide.
This listing explains the story behind Jeju, the dishes it is known for, its hours and how to book.
About Jeju
Jeju is a family-run business created by husband-and-wife team Sung and Dylan Kim. The couple first met working in a Vancouver restaurant, moved to Tofino and opened the original Jeju there in 2021, naming it after the Korean island that the town reminded them of. The Tofino restaurant earned a place on enRoute magazine's list of Canada's Best New Restaurants in 2022.
Opening in Vancouver had been a long-held dream, and the Mount Pleasant restaurant takes a more polished, evening-out approach than the laid-back Tofino original. The design is modern with subtle nods to Jeju Island, and the cooking blends Korean technique with seasonal West Coast ingredients. Family is part of the kitchen too: the house kimchi is made to Chef Julie's recipe.
The Menu
How It Works
Jeju serves dinner only, with a menu of shareable plates and larger mains meant to be enjoyed around the table. Plan on two or three dishes per person, plus rice and banchan.
What to Order
- 35-day-aged galbi: the signature dish: dry-aged beef short rib with deep, concentrated flavour.
- Sakura pork belly: a premium pork belly that has become one of the restaurant's best-known plates.
- Gochujang fried chicken: crisp fried chicken glazed with a sweet-spicy Korean chili sauce.
- Octopus with aged kimchi: tender octopus paired with deeply fermented kimchi.
- Truffled bulgogi: classic marinated beef given a luxurious twist.
Dietary Needs
Much of the menu features beef, pork and seafood. Let the restaurant know about allergies or dietary restrictions when you book through Tock so the team can advise.
Drinks: A Seasonal Korean Cocktail Program
Unlike the Tofino location, Jeju Vancouver puts a big focus on its central bar. The cocktail list is inspired by the four seasons and built around Korean flavours and spirits, and there are also wines, soju and alcohol-free options.
Atmosphere and Dining Experience
The room is calm, modern and intentional, with a central bar as its focal point. It feels like a special night out without being stiff.
- Best for: date nights, celebrations and food-focused dinners with friends
- Noise level: moderate
- Dress code: smart casual
- Seating: dining tables and seats at the central bar
