VanSuya: Nigerian Restaurant and Lounge in Chinatown and Surrey
VanSuya is a Nigerian restaurant and lounge with locations at 185 Keefer Street in Vancouver's Chinatown and 10767 King George Boulevard in Surrey. Owner Ekaose Nwadiani started it after finding Nigerian food hard to find when he moved to Canada.
It is named for suya, the spicy grilled meat skewers that are a beloved street food from northern Nigeria. Canada's men's national soccer team ordered a post-match meal from VanSuya during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
About VanSuya
The best seller is the smoky jollof rice, simmered in a spicy tomato stew and served with chicken, turkey, fish or beef.
The menu also includes stews, plantain, puff puff and other Nigerian favourites, with plant-based options.
