Now in its 4th year, the Dutch Street Market takes over the Granville Pedestrian Zone for a full weekend of free, all-ages programming celebrating Dutch and Indonesian culture. Spanning five blocks of Granville Street, the market brings together Netherlands House football activations, an Indonesian Rijsttafel, a Bloemenmarkt flower market, bitterballen and pilsners, stroopwaffels and poffertjes, Dutch film programming, and live music and DJs throughout both days.
Saturday, August 29
700 Block
Dutch BC's information booth, a European-style flower market and workshops, a Dutch desserts tent, a display on modern urbanism and cycling transit, and Amsterdam's famous De Poezenboot photobooth (canal cat rescue). Live music from Sadé Awele Serengeti runs 5:00–7:00 PM.
800 Block
Beer gardens and hot Dutch street fries, traditional Draaiorgel street music, Dutch short films at the Cinema Tent, and the Rijksmuseum Slavernij capsule exhibit.
900 Block
Watch parties at Dublin Calling and Good Co. Granville for the Premier League (Spurs vs. Newcastle), CPL (Cavalry vs. Vancouver FC), MLS (Whitecaps FC), and Eredivisie matches, plus Vancouver FC inflatable target games, mini-soccer pitch games, a Dutch dry good store, and Netherlands House exhibits.
1000 Block
Local DJs run 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, including gamelan artist Kanasia (KJRI Vancouver Gamelan), alongside Indonesian street food, batik and Balinese fabric vendors, and anti-colonial graphic novel exhibits.
1100 Block
A beer garden and Gezelligheid Lounge, a Dutch books and prints tent, and Culture Sessions by Naimmie from 6:00–9:00 PM.
Sunday, August 30
700 Block
Same daytime programming as Saturday (information booth, flower market, desserts tent, urbanism display, photobooth), with live music from Francis Arevalo (2:00–3:50 PM) and a Granville History Tour with Aaron Chapman (2:00–3:30 PM).
800 Block
Same as Saturday — beer gardens, Dutch street fries, Draaiorgel music, Cinema Tent, and the Rijksmuseum Slavernij exhibit.
900 Block
Same watch party and activity lineup as Saturday, including all four football leagues and the Netherlands House exhibits.
1000 Block
Local DJs and gamelan artist Kanasia return 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, alongside Indonesian street food and fabric vendors.
1100 Block
A beer garden, books and prints tent, Downtown Mix by Morning Disco (1:00–4:00 PM), and a Swing Out dance workshop with Dusty Flowerpot (6:00–9:00 PM).
