Harvest Days brings the best of the fall season to VanDusen Botanical Garden, transforming the Learning Garden and maze area into a weekend celebration of autumn for all ages. Set against the garden's vibrant fall colours, the event runs on select weekends from September 26 through October 18, with live music, face painting, lawn games, crafts, food trucks, and the interactive Discovery Tent.
Program Schedule
Live Music
Bluegrass and family folk sessions held daily across from the hedge maze, running 11:30 AM–1:30 PM and 2:00 PM–4:00 PM.
Face Painting
Available 10:30 AM–1:00 PM and 1:30 PM–4:00 PM.
Activities for All Ages
A full day of family-friendly programming by the Learning Garden and maze, including lawn games like cornhole and Jenga alongside the live music and face painting.
Discovery Tent
A rotating lineup of local experts, organizations, and community groups offering nature-based activities and demonstrations, including honey tasting and gardening tips, with programming varying throughout the event period.
Sculpture Stroll
Nature-inspired sculptures by local artist Nickie Lewis, crafted entirely from natural, organic, and 100% biodegradable materials, displayed throughout the grounds. Visitors can also explore beyond the event area for VanDusen's full autumn colour display, including sugar maples, ginkgo trees, bald cypress, and the Autumn Stroll.

Groups of 10 or more receive a 10% discount, automatically applied at checkout or at the desk. All tickets are non-refundable and must be presented on a mobile device or printed for scanning at entry. A 3% Amenity Improvement Fee on each ticket helps fund special projects at the Garden and Conservatory.
Know Before You Go
- Programming runs 10:30 AM–4:30 PM; the Garden stays open until 5:00 PM
- Food trucks accept cash, credit, and debit
- The Garden Café and Shaughnessy Restaurant are also on-site (reservations recommended for formal dining at Shaughnessy)
- Booking online in advance is recommended to save on pricing
- Enter through the VanDusen Visitor Centre — it's about a 10-minute walk to the Learning Garden and maze area
- The event is outdoors and runs rain or shine
Getting There & Accessibility
Free parking is available in the lot off West 37th Avenue, though spaces are limited; free street parking is also available nearby where permitted. Given expected crowds, transit, walking, or biking is recommended — the garden sits on the #17 Oak bus route and is a 15-minute walk from Oakridge Canada Line station. Main garden paths are paved and wheelchair accessible, and all portable toilets are accessible, though no wheelchairs are available to borrow on-site. Working guide and service dogs are welcome; other pets should stay home. No smoking, vaping, bicycles, scooters, or skateboards are permitted in the garden; strollers and wheelchairs are welcome.
