02 The story
Ravines, SkyTrain and a diverse community
Renfrew-Collingwood sits on Vancouver’s eastern edge, bordering Burnaby. It is one of the city’s most diverse and populous neighbourhoods, with strong Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese and South Asian communities, and excellent SkyTrain connections.
Renfrew Ravine
Renfrew Ravine Park follows Still Creek, one of the few remaining above-ground streams in Vancouver. Its forested trails feel a world away from the city, and community art and restoration projects have made it a local treasure.
Joyce Street and Collingwood
Around Joyce–Collingwood Station, Joyce Street is lined with Filipino bakeries, grocers and restaurants, along with Chinese and Vietnamese eateries. The Collingwood Neighbourhood House is a busy community hub offering programs for all ages.
Parks and recreation
Slocan Park, Renfrew Park and the Renfrew Park Community Centre provide sports fields, playgrounds and recreation, and Burnaby’s Central Park is just across the border.
Getting around
The neighbourhood is served by Joyce–Collingwood and 29th Avenue stations on the Expo Line and Renfrew and Rupert stations on the Millennium Line, making it easy to reach downtown, Metrotown and the suburbs without a car.
