Delara: Contemporary Persian Cooking in Kitsilano
Delara is a contemporary Persian restaurant at 2272 West 4th Avenue in Kitsilano, run by Iranian-born chef-owner Bardia Ilbeiggi. It opened in August 2021, in the middle of the pandemic.
Delara was first Michelin recommended in 2022, a year after opening, and is recommended again in the 2026 guide. It won Gold for Best Middle Eastern at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards in 2024 and 2025, and shared Gold in 2026. Here's what to order.
About Delara
Before opening Delara, Ilbeiggi trained in French technique and worked at Frenchie in Paris, then at L'Abattoir and Farmer's Apprentice in Vancouver. At Delara he applies that training to the Persian food he grew up with, adding seasonal West Coast ingredients.
The name means "she who brings beauty to the heart." The 60-seat room includes a bright solarium, and weekend brunch is served alongside dinner.
