Zarak is a modern Afghan restaurant at 2102 Main Street, at Main and 5th Avenue in Mount Pleasant. It opened in December 2021 from the family behind South Surrey's Afghan Kitchen, led by Kabul-born Hassib Sarwari.

About Zarak by Afghan Kitchen
The menu takes Afghan family recipes, which the team calls "mum's recipes," and presents them with refined plating. Judges praised Zarak for taking creative risks that go well beyond the usual falafel and hummus.
The pink-hued room, designed by Simcic + Uhrich Architects, is inspired by Afghan mud houses. The bar program is a highlight, with cocktails such as a negroni made with fig-infused gin and cardamom Campari. Zarak is halal and serves alcohol, and offers weekend brunch.
