Dewan-e-Khass: Pakistani Comfort Food on Fraser Street
Dewan-e-Khass is a small, fully halal Pakistani restaurant at 5750 Fraser Street in South Vancouver. Owner Siraj Ahmed Khan opened it in 2015.
It is known for dishes that were long hard to find in Vancouver, such as haleem and nihari, along with Peshawar-style karahi. Here's what to order.
About Dewan-e-Khass
Khan is Pashtun and brought the chicken karahi of Peshawar to his menu. The restaurant has become a home-away-from-home for many Pakistani diners and international students, especially at Eid and during Ramadan iftar.
The room is cozy and can get tight when busy.
