About Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung began in Taiwan in 1958 as a cooking oil shop opened by Bing-Yi Yang and his wife, Pen-Mei Lai, and became a dumpling and noodle restaurant in 1972. Today it has well over 160 locations in more than a dozen countries.

Each xiao long bao is hand-folded with 18 precise pleats. In Vancouver, the dumplings are made in a glass-walled kitchen near the entrance so diners can watch the process.
