Giardino: Umberto Menghi's Tuscan Restaurant on Hornby Street
Giardino is a Tuscan-inspired Italian restaurant at 1328 Hornby Street, from legendary Vancouver restaurateur Umberto Menghi. It opened on June 30, 2015, half a block from his original Il Giardino, which ran for 37 years.
Giardino earned honourable mentions for Best Italian at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards in 2025 and 2026. Here's what to know.
About Giardino
Menghi opened his first Vancouver restaurant in 1973 and is one of the city's best-known Italian restaurateurs. Giardino brings back his signature Tuscan and Mediterranean cooking.
The room, inspired by a Tuscan granary, has vaulted ceilings, wood beams, Tuscan tiles and hand-painted artwork, plus a Florentine-style courtyard and patio. The menu covers pizza, pasta, meat and seafood, and includes a crudo bar.
