    Celebrate Hawaiian & Polynesian Culture at Hoʻopili me ke Aloha 2026

    Experience the beauty, traditions, and spirit of aloha at Hoʻopili me ke Aloha 2026, a vibrant two-day cultural festival taking place on July 11–12, 2026 at Fort Langley National Historic Site. Presented by the Spirit of the Pacific Cultural Society (SPCS), this family-friendly event celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Hawaiʻi, Polynesia, and their historic connections with the Indigenous Peoples of the Pacific Northwest.

    Visitors can enjoy authentic Hawaiian and Polynesian music, dance, artisan markets, storytelling, cultural demonstrations, traditional workshops, Indigenous guest speakers, and delicious island-inspired food throughout the weekend.

    Traditional Craft Workshops (Registration Required)

    Participate in hands-on cultural workshops led by experienced Native Hawaiian cultural practitioners.

    ʻUlana Lau Niu (Coconut Leaf Weaving)

    Create your own traditional woven coconut leaf hat while learning centuries-old Hawaiian weaving techniques.

    Lei Wili Workshop

    Learn the traditional Hawaiian art of floral lei making using the classic winding method and create your own handcrafted lei.

    • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

    $100 per participant (includes materials)


    Dance Workshops (Registration Required)

    Held at Inspire Women's Fitness in Langley.

    Hula Workshop

    10:45 AM – 12:45 PM

    Suitable for beginners and experienced dancers.

    Tahitian Basics Workshop

    1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

    Learn the energetic rhythms and movements of traditional Tahitian dance accompanied by live drumming.

    $45 per workshop

    Indigenous Connections

    Hoʻopili me ke Aloha also celebrates the historic relationship between Native Hawaiians and the Indigenous Peoples of the Pacific Northwest. Beginning in the late 1700s, many Native Hawaiians worked throughout the region, including at Hudson's Bay Company posts like Fort Langley, helping build communities and forming lasting cultural connections that continue to be honoured today.
