Negroni Week returns to Vancouver as part of the international charitable initiative presented by Campari and Imbibe Magazine, bringing bars and restaurants across the city together to celebrate the classic Negroni cocktail — a mix of gin, Campari, and red vermouth — while supporting the Slow Food movement. Since launching in 2013, Negroni Week has grown from around 120 participating venues worldwide to thousands, raising more than $5 million for charitable causes along the way.
How It Works
Participating venues put their own spin on the Negroni for the week, from classic pours to creative variations, with a portion of proceeds from each cocktail sold going toward Slow Food's mission of promoting food that is "good, clean, and fair." Bars are encouraged to interpret the drink through their own style rather than stick to a single formula, so expect a wide range of takes across the city.
Notable Vancouver Participant
Copperpenny Distilling (288 Esplanade E, North Vancouver) extends the celebration into a full "Negroni Month" running through September 30, wrapping up with The Evolution of the Negroni Masterclass on September 27, 3:30–5:30 PM.
About the Negroni
The Negroni's origin traces to Florence around 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni reportedly asked bartender Fosco Scarselli to swap the soda water in his Americano for gin — creating one of the cocktail world's most enduring classics.
