02 The story
Forest trails, golf courses and village shopping
Dunbar-Southlands lies in the south-west corner of Vancouver, between Pacific Spirit Regional Park and the Fraser River. It is one of the city’s greenest neighbourhoods, with large family homes, mature trees and a strong community feel.
Dunbar Village
Dunbar Street is the neighbourhood’s main street, with independent shops, cafés, bakeries and the historic Dunbar Theatre, a local movie house. It has the feel of a small-town high street, where neighbours know the shopkeepers by name.
Southlands
South of 41st Avenue, Southlands has a surprisingly rural character for a big city: horse paddocks, riding trails and a riding club near the river, along with golf courses and quiet lanes. Trails follow the Fraser River and connect into Pacific Spirit Park.
Parks and outdoors
Pacific Spirit Park runs along the western edge, offering forest trails for walking, running and mountain biking. Memorial West Park and Balaclava Park are local favourites for sports and playgrounds, and several golf courses make this a draw for golfers.
Who it suits
Dunbar-Southlands is popular with families looking for space, good schools and nature on the doorstep, while still being about 20–25 minutes from downtown.
