Peya: French-Indian Brasserie in Hastings-Sunrise
Peya is a French-Indian restaurant and cocktail bar at 2101 East Hastings Street in East Vancouver. It opened in March 2025 from chef-owner Ashwani Dabas and partner Kevin Day, the team behind The Ellis in Kitsilano.
Peya won Bronze for Best Indian at the 2026 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and was added to the Michelin Guide's recommended list in 2026. Here's what to expect.
About Peya
Dabas studied French cooking extensively, and Peya blends the two cuisines: Indian dishes refined with French technique, and French classics reworked with Indian ingredients.
The bar, led by Chris Enns, mixes Indian botanicals and French liqueurs, and includes a zero-proof cocktail flight.
The Menu
How It Works
Share a few small plates and a main, and save room for a cocktail.
What to Order
- Cornish hen: Peya's take on butter chicken.
- Rabbit kebab: served on green pistou.
- Tandoori broccoli: a popular vegetable plate.
- Fig and goat cheese samosas: a French-Indian twist on a classic snack.
Dietary Needs
Indian menus usually have plenty of vegetarian dishes. Many dishes include dairy (ghee, cream, paneer), nuts or gluten, so tell staff about allergies.
