Touk: Contemporary Cambodian Cooking on Alberni Street

Touk is a contemporary Cambodian restaurant at 1152 Alberni Street in downtown Vancouver, led by chef Chanthy Yen, winner of Top Chef Canada Season 11. It opened in December 2025 and calls itself Canada's first contemporary Cambodian restaurant.

Touk means boat in Khmer, and the idea is to carry diners on a journey through Cambodian food. Here's what to expect.

About Touk

Yen was born in Windsor, Ontario, to Cambodian refugee parents and learned to cook in his grandmother's kitchen. His career took him through Michelin-starred kitchens and acclaimed Montreal restaurants, and Touk began as his Cambodian pop-up in Montreal during the pandemic.

The menu blends Cambodian flavours such as kroeung spice paste and Kampot pepper with French technique and BC ingredients. Yen partnered with Dave Loeuy of Song and Terrence Feng of Kin Kao on the project.

Touk placed in the top three for Best New Restaurant in the Georgia Straight's 2026 Golden Plates Awards.
