Pakistani cooking is built on rich, slow-cooked dishes: karahi cooked fast in a deep wok-like pan, nihari braised overnight, and haleem stirred for hours. It is closely related to North Indian food, but has its own regional specialties from Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.
This guide covers 9 Pakistani restaurants: two dedicated kitchens in South Vancouver and a group in Surrey, where most of the region's Pakistani restaurants are, especially along Scott Road and in Newton. All of them serve halal food.
