02 The story
A village by the river
Osprey Village is one of Pitt Meadows’ newest neighbourhoods, built in south Pitt Meadows along the north bank of the Fraser River, near Bonson Road. It was planned as a compact, walkable village, with townhomes and low-rise buildings around a small main street, and a land use plan that allows live-work units where residents can run small businesses below their homes.
The commercial core is small and cozy rather than busy. Expect a handful of shops, services and places to eat rather than a full shopping district. For groceries and bigger errands, most residents drive or bus north to Meadowtown Centre and Lougheed Highway.
On the trail network
What makes Osprey Village special is its setting. The neighbourhood sits right on the riverside dike system, so residents can walk or cycle straight out onto flat trails along the Fraser. The paths connect with the wider Pitt Meadows dike network, with good cycling links toward Coquitlam and, via the Golden Ears Bridge, Langley. On weekends the riverside attracts cyclists and families from across the region.
The South Bonson Community Centre on Barnston View Road, beside a riverside park, serves the neighbourhood and is also used for community gatherings and events. The views across the Fraser, with river traffic, eagles and the bridge in the distance, are a big part of daily life here.
Who it suits
Osprey Village suits people who value quiet and green space, from downsizers to young families who enjoy being outside. It is not the place for nightlife. A car makes daily life easier, though the trails make it a pleasure to leave it parked.
Tip: visit on a clear evening and walk the dike west at sunset for wide views of the river and mountains.
