Metro Vancouver is one of the best places in the world outside Asia to eat Chinese food. Generations of immigrants from Hong Kong, Guangdong, Taiwan and mainland China have built a dining scene that covers almost every regional style, and Richmond in particular has one of the densest concentrations of Chinese restaurants in North America.
This guide brings together the 28 best Chinese restaurants near Vancouver, British Columbia, spanning Cantonese seafood and dim sum, Michelin-starred Peking duck, Shaanxi noodles, Huaiyang and Jiangnan cooking, Hong Kong-style hot pot and Chinatown barbecue. Each pick links to a full Vancouver Page listing with hours, maps and contact details. For more focused lists, see our guides to Cantonese, Sichuan, Taiwanese and Hong Kong-style café food.

We drew on the most respected awards for Chinese food in Canada: the Chinese Restaurant Awards (founded in Vancouver in 2008) and its Elite 30 Canada ranking, the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and the Michelin Guide Vancouver. We then aimed for regional variety, so this list represents several of China's great cuisines, from Vancouver dining rooms to Richmond noodle shops and barbecue counters. We also included every Metro Vancouver restaurant on the 2026 Chinese Restaurant Awards Top 50 Honourees list that we could confirm, leaving out dessert shops and cafés, which have their own guides. Details were checked in 2026.
